Model releases

A new model is a starting point.

Check what it supports, where it runs, and how it performs on your own task. These are selected releases checked on 26 October 2026, not benchmark winners or a complete release feed.

Models / NVIDIA

Nemotron 3.5 Bolt E4B 4GB

NVIDIA released an open small language model aimed at fast conversational agents with a compact memory footprint.

Why it matters
A candidate for local conversational prototypes. Small memory requirements are useful only if quality holds up on your task.
What to try
Compare short factual replies, refusal on missing evidence, and response time using the same test cases.
Access to check
Open model; check the linked project for deployment requirements.
Models / Google

Gemini 4 Argon

Google announced developer access to a frontier model positioned for complex software and knowledge-work workflows.

Why it matters
Long tasks need evaluation across intermediate steps, not just a convincing final answer.
What to try
Use a small code migration or document-analysis task with explicit acceptance checks.
Access to check
Google describes paid Gemini API access; consult its developer announcement for current options.
Models / Anthropic

Claude Haiku 5.5

Anthropic positions Haiku 5.5 for high-volume tasks such as summarization, classification, and subagent work.

Why it matters
A smaller model can be useful for repeatable tasks, but savings should be measured per accepted result rather than per token alone.
What to try
Run a labeled classification set and count corrections, retries, and total cost.
Access to check
Consult the release page for platform access, current pricing, and model identifiers.
Models / DeepSeek

DeepSeek V4.1 Flash 1017

An image-and-text model with a publisher model card and downloadable weights on Hugging Face.

Why it matters
An open model card lets you inspect deployment notes and licensing before planning a build.
What to try
Read the inference requirements and test a small grounded-answer task; do not assume downloadable weights fit a laptop.
Access to check
Consult the publisher model card, license, and inference guide.

Before switching models

Keep the same inputs and acceptance criteria. Compare correctness, latency, cost, and failure behavior. An open-weight model may still require substantial hardware; an API announcement does not guarantee access on your account.
