Lesson 2 of 6
Supply useful context
Context tells an assistant which situation its answer needs to fit.
The idea
Include facts that would change a useful response: audience, starting knowledge, available resources, and constraints. Separate facts from instructions with clear labels. More context is not always better. A long unrelated story can bury the actual task. Use a short brief and leave out private information that is not needed.
Compare two instructions
Before
A request with important details left open.
Explain APIs.
After
An instruction with an explicit task and constraints.
Explain HTTP APIs to a student who knows Python functions but has never made a web request. Use a library-book example and include one request and response. Define unfamiliar terms.
Try it yourself
Use the scenario below, then compare your approach with a worked example.
Compare and reflect. No live AI generation.
Key takeaway
Supply the smallest set of facts that makes the answer fit your situation.
